Do you take used items?

We do accept gently used items. We ask that clothing, blankets, and towels are stain free without holes and strong odor (ex: cigarette smoke).

What type of tent do you need?

We are always in need of 4/5 man tents or larger. A lot of our friends have medical conditions that make bending over or crawling into a tent very difficult; therefore the smaller tents make it hard for them to manage.

Can I donate my mattress set?

We accept cribs, toddler beds, twin and full-size mattresses (no queen or king-size mattresses). The mattresses must be stain free and in good condition.  

Do you take furniture?

We do accept furniture, but when donating keep in mind the apartments our friends move into are usually very small. Items we are regularly in need of are side tables, chest of drawers, small kitchen table sets, couches and loveseats. Unfortunately we cannot accept large, over-stuffed pieces of furniture. 

Do you take washers/dryers or other big appliances?

At this time we do not accept these items. We accept small appliances like coffee makers, microwaves and table lamps.

Do you take food donations?

Yes, we accept nonperishable food items and water. We are always in need of:

  • Canned tuna, chicken, and other canned meats
  • High protein bars
  • Hearty Soups
  • Beef Jerky

We will accept frozen meats, but request you notify YAIPaks ahead of time with such donations.

Do you take pet items?

We accept dog/cat food and treats. Leashes, collars and toys are always a welcomed, special treat for our four-legged friends!

Will you pick up my donations?

At this time we are not able to pick up donations. We receive donations on Mondays from 9am to 12pm and Thursdays from 5pm to 8pm. We have a dropbox at LifePoint Church, 1915 Rossview Rd. The dropbox is located behind the left side of the church, under the metal stairs.

Can I get a receipt for my donation?

Yes, when you drop items at the warehouse a team member can write you a donation receipt. If you make a monetary donation online a receipt will be emailed to you.


What will I be doing when I volunteer at the warehouse?

There are several areas where we need your help to make this ministry possible:

  • All donations are inspected and sorted to their assigned location
  • We have areas that need to be organized as things are moving on a daily basis
  • Items need to be transferred to our second warehouse
  • We need assistance loading and unloading the trailer

The best part is we do this alongside one another, building friendships with guaranteed laughter!

Is there an age requirement to volunteer?

We are a family friendly warehouse! We love when families come to serve together.  For the little ones, we have a playroom. For those of reading age, they are able to help sort through clothing. We always have little jobs for our young volunteers!

Can I serve on days other than Monday or Thursday?

At this time Monday from 9am to 12pm and Thursday from 5pm to 8pm are our only warehouse serve times. If you’re interested in serving another time, check out out upcoming events on our website or Facebook page!

How can I go to the encampments with the team?

YAIPaks tries to be very respectful to our friends and their homes. Due to the sensitivity of these relationships, we only allow staff to visit encampments. However, we know the transformational power of these friendships and encourage you to join us! Therefore we host regular events you can serve in to engage with our homeless friends first-hand. Do the homeless know their pictures are posted on social media?

Yes, we always ask permission before taking a picture. We post pictures and stories for several reasons: to share their story, educate the public about homelessness, show the needs of our friends, and for donors to see the impact of their donations.

Can anyone get 'stuff' from YAIPaks?

We serve clients of DCS, CMCS, and our homeless veterans transitioning into housing. We require that their case managers contact YAIPaks to submit their request.

Do the homeless come to the warehouse to get supplies?

No, we are mobile outreach so we go out to our friends and meet them at their encampments.

Do you help people pay bills?

No, we do not assist with monetary needs.

Are you open any times other than Monday mornings and Thursday evenings?

Unfortunately, at this time our warehouse is only open those two days. We are a volunteer mobile ministry and the other days of the week we are in the field doing outreach. Stay tuned to our events page for special serve opportunities!
